Feria in Sevilla!

Welcome Back,

I am back to another blog. Over the past week I have truly been taking in the Spanish culture and enjoying my favorite week in Sevilla yet. I have been at FERIA all week enjoying all the different attractions. Studying abroad in Sevilla during the spring gives all students the opportunity to enjoy Semana Santa and Feria, which I highly recommend all students to attend both. You truly get to experience the Spanish culture and history at both events. A couple blogs ago I talked about Semana Santa, and during this blog ill talk about Feria.

Feria, what is it? Feria is basically a version of a giant state fair. All day and all week long you can attend Feria and have a great time. Feria is truly unique to Spain and is something you must experience as it is kind of hard to describe. But I'll give you a brief summary. When going to Feria you can go anytime throughout the afternoon and just go walk the streets that are lined up with beautiful casetas (tents) that are both private and public. Below you can see some pictures of what the tents looked like.

When entering the tents you can see people dressed in flamenco dresses and suits dancing "Sevillanas." Not only are they dancing they are also enjoying some wonderful Spanish cuisine or the known drink of Feria called "Rebujito." Also during the day you will find the streets fill with people riding around on their horses or giving carriage rides.
But once night time arrives is when the true festival begins. Below you can see the entrance of Feria and it is just filled with people. This is the atmosphere you will experience everywhere in Feria at night as it feels like almost everyone that lives in Sevilla is at Feria. The night atmosphere is different in that their is a lot more dancing being done. The tents and streets are just filled with people having a wonderful time!

Fortunately I have wonderful coworkers so I got the privilege to go into private Casetas, which was wonderful and a completely different atmosphere than a public Casetas. We did a lot of trying to dance, but it was really bad. HAHAHA

Lastly, in Feria there are plenty of rides. If you love roller coaster you could spend all day on the rides as there were a lot of different types of rides. Below is a couple pictures of us riding the rides.

Again like I mentioned earlier, if you study abroad in Sevilla during the Spring I would highly suggest attending Feria as SAIIE is awesome and gives you the entire week off!

Hasta luego!!✌
